Where the new stove will be.

stove wall

This is the wall where the stove will go.   The stove will slide in between the two cabinets.

You saw the cabinet to the right in the previous picture that showed where the refrigerator would go.   As you can see, the refrigerator will go the directly to the right of these cabinets.

The space were the refrigerator used to be will now be cabinets and counter space.    it will be wonderful to have counter space between the range and the refrigerator.

It will be very handy having the refrigerator directly to the right of the cooking area.

So are those avocado green drawer faces a hint of colors to come? :)

Hi Pam! Well, the color is actually “Green Tea.” Just goes to show that paint color names echo other trends of an era. But yes, the cabinets are “old-fashioned” painted ones. We’ll be posting more about them soon.

We have given serious thought to going Mondrian with some of the drawer and door fronts. However, we’ve sprung for a professional paint job and couldn’t quite get there, especially before they were even installed.

I too was drawn to the color; it does look like avacado, or green tea :) I can’t see too well in the pic, but that green looks really good against what looks to be a kind of cream base color on the cabinet. If that’s correct; I hope you go with those colors! I know some folks in our neighborhood who went with those colors in their kitchen and it looks great. The cream instead of white adds an instant retro/nostolgiac appeal.

As for Mondrian, I did a little of that in our kitchen re-do, painting the cabinets and drawers different colors against a white base. I love it; very bright and busy and cheerful. I like it, but to be honest, I like our neighbors green/cream kitchen colors as much.

Can’t wait to see the finished product!

It isn’t going to be a cream color. At this phase of the project the cabinets where not painted yet except for the drawers. The white you see is the primer.

The cabinets are painted green, and they look great. We are holding off on showing more of the project until it is more finished. In the mean time we will do occasional blogs about smaller aspects of the project.

We are not going with the Mondrian look for the kitchen, but have some ideas about how we might incorporate that design in another part of the house. More on that later.

We’re glad you are enjoying following our project. It has been fun.
