try simichrome polish. It says it is a metal polish but it is also a wonderful plastic polish. These chairs were usually fiberglass, and I am willing to bet this chair is too. The Simichrome should refresh the surface without damaging it. I have used it to remove a scratch on my Ipod. Good stuff.

Hi, your chair might be fiberglass, but I'm also guessing that the "film" you're seeing is actually sun fade. I doubt there's much you can do about it. Have you tried a swipe of polyurethane or something similar in a hidden spot? It might just refresh the finish, just as water would. DOES water make it brighter? If so, you should be able to varnish it with something then.

It's a great looking chair. Good luck, Mona
