I LOVED your tour! It was so cool, although I wanted to see more of the kitchen! Hmmm. I have to figure out how to do this, too!

The Video Tour was fun to make.
We did it with an inexpensive still camera that is capable of creating short (eight minute) videos. It was edited with an inexpensive video editing program and displayed through Google Video, which is free.
We are planning on doing many more kitchen posts since that is going to be our major focus in the next several months. We presume a fair number of these will be video.

Hi,
I need a video camera. I’ve taken lots of shots of our mid-century (split level) home – mainly because it keeps changing (mainly due to me, not my wife), but also because I see new “passing moments” when the light hits a certain zone, etc., and then, if I don’t catch it, it’s GONE. I own a modernist shop in Norfolk Virginia, and have a web site as well. I have some shots of our home on the “Shop” page in the “Friends and Customers” gallery. Our home has the label (duh) of “Our Home”.
Since it’s my business to locate the coolest stuff from the bulgy middle of the 20th century, I thought you might enjoy seeing what I’m up to, also.

Hi,
I love the house….my only complaint is the French Doors with the grills……That is to traditional and does not go with the theme of the house…….I like the idea of glass french doors, but it should just be the glass panes…..No Grills. Also, I think you should change the white trim….doesn’t blend well…..Overall, I love the house and all the windows.

Just came across your website while doing some research. I watched your video and heard you say you’re planning on getting rid of your brick wall during reconstruction?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I’ve been in my mid-century home just over a decade, and I can tell you that you’ll come to love that brick! Save the brick! hope I’m not too late!!

The brick was not part of the original design, and is not even real brick. It was installed as part of a re-muddle that was done sometime in the 60’s.
It was cheap fake brick that was glued onto plywood. It looked awful and detracted from the original design of the house. It is gone, and the house is much happier because of it.
We have made every effort to keep with the original design intentions of the house, including having custom cabinets made that matched the vintage of the home. But the brick was awful and it had to go.
We appreciate your concern for maintaining the integrity of our classic Mid-century home, but keeping the brick would not have achieved that goal. It was from a different time and place, and did not contribute to what made the house so special.
